Manager, GTM Patient Communications

Location: Pittsburgh, PA (Hybrid)

Classification: Exempt

Status: Full-Time

Reports to: Senior Manager, GTM Strategy

Purpose

The Manager, GTM Patient Communications is responsible for overseeing and improving all outbound patient-facing communications across PANTHERx. This includes therapy-specific print materials, educational resources, welcome kits, SMS and email communications, and patient-facing talking points.

This role ensures that all patient communications are clear, consistent, and easy to understand—translating complex clinical concepts into simple, accessible language that supports patient understanding, adherence, and overall experience with PANTHERx. The individual will partner closely with Operations, Clinical, Technology, Implementation and Marketing teams to align communications with real-world patient interactions and will proactively identify new opportunities to improve how PANTHERx engages and educates patients.

This role is both strategic and hands-on, responsible for planning patient communications, developing high-quality materials, and introducing new formats—including multimedia—to enhance the patient experience.

Responsibilities

Patient Communications Planning & Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Partners with Operations, Clinical, Technology, Implementation and Marketing teams to maintain a clear, prioritized roadmap of patient communications needs across the patient journey (e.g., onboarding, therapy initiation, maintenance, refill).
  • Establishes and manages a forward-looking calendar of patient communications and education materials, aligned to patient needs, program milestones, new therapy launches and operational priorities.
  • Ensures alignment on priorities, timing, and ownership of materials across teams and manufacturer partners.
  • Share patient insights and outcomes to BD and Account Management to drive consistent value proposition storytelling.

Patient Communications Development & Execution

  • Develops and maintains core patient-facing materials, including therapy-specific launch-support print assets, welcome kits, educational resources, SMS, call scripts, email communications, and talking points.
  • Translates complex medical, clinical, and operational concepts into clear, simple, patient-friendly language.
  • Ensures all materials are consistent, accurate, and reinforce key messages delivered through patient-facing teams.
  • Owns content quality from draft through final delivery, partnering with creative and clinical stakeholders as needed.
  • Supports Operations team in responding to patient emails.

Multimedia Content & Patient Engagement

  • Develops and supports creation of multimedia patient education assets, including short-form videos and visual content, to enhance patient understanding and engagement.
  • Identifies when a concept is best communicated through video, visual, or interactive formats—not just written materials—and drives development accordingly.
  • Partners with creative teams or external vendors to produce high-quality multimedia content.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Proactively identifies gaps in patient communications and recommends new materials to improve clarity, engagement, and adherence.
  • Evaluates patient touchpoints and feedback to refine existing materials and improve effectiveness over time.
  • Brings forward new ideas (e.g., videos, tools, or new formats) to strengthen patient understanding and experience.
  • Identify themes from patient feedback, pain points, adherence barriers and engagement to improve patient communication strategy.
  • Support KPIs for communication performance: patient comprehension, engagement, response rates, refill/adherence support, call avoidance, and patient satisfaction.

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Communications, Marketing, Public Health, Life Sciences, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in patient education, healthcare communications, medical writing, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex medical or clinical concepts into clear, simple, patient-friendly language.
  • Strong writing and editing skills across formats, including print, digital, and conversational (scripted) communications.
  • Experience developing content for patient populations with varying levels of health literacy.
  • Ability to independently structure and develop materials with limited direction.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with clinical, operational, and marketing stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel to support industry events as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in rare disease, specialty pharmacy, or pharmaceutical patient support programs.
  • Familiarity with patient engagement channels, including SMS, mobile applications, and digital communications.
  • Experience developing patient engagement content for operational workflows, including call scripting, SMS programs, digital engagement platforms, and patient portals.
  • Experience developing or producing multimedia (e.g., video or visual education content).
  • Understanding of patient adherence drivers in complex or chronic therapies.
  • Comfort with AI tools and willingness to experiment.
